Titus Class Destroyer

The mainstay of the UEG fleet as it expands its reach further and further from the Sol System, the Titus class is a heavy destroyer built after the lessons learned from both the Martian Uprising and Myu Conflict. The Earth Government dictates that colonies must maintain their own military forces for security and basic defense utilizing tightly-controlled mass-production vessels from approved corporate manufacturers. The Titus is not one of these vessels. It is the successor to the old Peisistratus class battlehorses and reserved exclusively for the UEG Navy. As such, its technology and weaponry are far more advanced than the colonial standards. This ensures that even should a remote colony decide to declare independence, they would stand little chance against these superior vessels.

Much like its predecessor, the Titus class does not carry much in the way of fighters, cargo or infantry but relies on other specialized ships for those duties if needed. Generally the UEG doesn't place a significant value on the taking of hostile ships, colonies or personnel and so large occupational forces are never employed for anything other than the most important of objectives. If the people of a planet are deemed traitors or otherwise working against the interests of the Earth, they are simply blasted to oblivion from orbit. When the UEG encounters the dreaded Saurian Empire, they form an instant and intense hatred of each other. This is not because of any clash of ideology or transposition from the conflicts with the L-3 Exodus Fleet. They could not stand each other because they were two sharks put in the same tank. Their border is vast and the UEG received a number of refugees from alien worlds taken by the reptiles. The UEG recognized the same extreme and murderous intentions that it harbored itself. For the Saurians, this would be the beginning of the end for their time as a major power due in no small part to their underestimation of Human vessels such as the Titus based solely on size. Despite being only marginally over-sized for a destroyer class ship, Titus possesses firepower and defensive systems comparable to a cruiser and rarely do these ships travel alone. Even one on one Titus is a close match for a Saurian warship. The first battles caused the Saurians to use the same strategy that worked so well for them on countless worlds...send more ships, fill the entire skies with fighters and land division after division of shock troops to ravage planets. This in turn convinced the UEG to fully mobilize and begin mass-production of Kage-Myu, short-lived genetically engineered humans with advanced skills programmed during incubation. The war would last for generations and pull in civilizations from half the galaxy into one side or the other.
