JM-108G Spatha

While the JM-108D is designed for multi-purpose utility in all theaters, the JM-108G was built for purely terrestrial warfare. Forsaking boosters for missile pods and adding another rifle gives the "Spatha" variant a significant advantage in firepower at the expense of mobility. The use of missile weaponry also requires additional support logistics but the pod attachments were designed to be replaced easily by simple crane. The empty pods can then be reloaded while the replacements are in use, allowing for a greater rate of fire than most other missile-launching fighters and ground vehicles. The range on the missiles, capable of reaching the upper atmosphere on standard worlds, also makes them quite popular in colonial defense positions on the frontier. However the occasional misfire of the weapon system in heavy rainfall scenarios earned them the nickname of "Blunderbuss" by locals of the Sabina Coriolis System.
