Boreas

The capitol planet of the M-Con faction was essentially a gift to the beleaguered remnants of the Martian Uprising.

After the Earth Union claimed a resounding victory at the battle of Phobos, the end was nigh. Those who could, fled into the great unknown. Their original goal was to find the L-3 Exodus Fleet and reunite with their sympathetic allies in the Orion Nebula. This plan failed miserably when they encountered hostile alien forces and no sign of their brethren. The Exodus Fleet had moved on in a direction unknown to the former Martians. Their only choice was to flee those that would pursue them into further uncharted space, beyond where even their enemies would dare to go. Eventually they find a civilization that is not overtly hostile, possessing both advanced technology and a careful wisdom. The Trogarans knew that these wanderers were no threat to them but saw the potential for a powerful ally. For generations, the Trogarans had faced an intractable, biologically-engineered enemy. The "Hobain" would descend on a world in a great swarm and devastate any organisms found there. Once critical mass was reached, they would set out once more for another. Trogarans build fantastic ships but are at a serious disadvantage in close-quarters combat. When the humans from Mars became more settled, mutually beneficial arrangements were made.

M-Con mercenaries can be found on most Trogaran planets and installations. Boreas itself becomes a massive hub of both arms and commerce, its citizens free to believe in anything they wish and to trade in anything they desire, content in the knowledge that the Earth Union could never threaten them with annihilation as it did so long ago.
